The fund manager
This is a high growth fund with a discretionary fund manadate investing with a Private Equity lens. The current investment team is currently around 10, with circa 5 portfolio investments.
The role purpose
This fund has decided to carve out a specialist asset management function for deal/corporate monitoring and reporting. This role is building out the asset management function from the ground up, covering best practice reporting, data management, stakeholder engagement, compliance and risk. This role will be building the asset management function and processes for circa 12 months but not yet performing asset management duties. There is a chance that this hire can be considered for the eventual permanent role which would act as Asset Manager.
Role responsibilities:
- Lead the development and implementation of asset management operations across the investment portfolio and partnerships.
- Design and implement asset management processes that align with best practices and industry standards.
- Manage and integrate asset lifecycle activities to meet the fund objectives, balancing cost, risk, and performance.
- Oversee data management strategies to ensure accurate and timely information across the asset management function.
- Undertake investment analysis to support detailed reviews and reporting to the leadership team, focusing on asset performance, valuation, risk, and return dynamics.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders, external partners, and third-party vendors.
- Foster a culture of risk mitigation across asset management, ensuring compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and risk management guidelines.
- Monitor the performance of investment portfolios against benchmarks and targets, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
- Develop and recommend resource requirements to successfully implement asset management strategies, and enhance the fund's profile as a thought leader in asset management.
- Ensure thorough and accurate documentation for EIC and Board Investment Committees, and maintain strong communication and negotiation skills to effectively communicate complex commercial issues and financial analysis to senior management.
Candidate profile:
- A seasoned asset management professional with 15+ years of experience, expertise in insourced and outsourced models, and a deep understanding of financial markets, investment principles, and portfolio construction techniques.
- A strong leader with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and with experience in process design, data management, and stakeholder relationship management, with a track record of leading, coaching, and mentoring teams, and collaborating with peers.
