Operational Risk Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and implementation of the company’s insurance and financial risk management strategies, including identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks across various business lines.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive risk management framework to ensure the company meets regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Oversee financial risk modeling, stress testing, and scenario analysis to evaluate potential exposure to market, credit, liquidity, and operational risks.
  • Collaborate with underwriters, actuaries, and other stakeholders to optimize risk retention and reinsurance strategies.
  • Monitor emerging risks within the insurance industry and financial markets, providing insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Ensure the accurate reporting of risk exposure to the executive team, board of directors, and regulatory authorities.
  • Lead the risk governance process and ensure robust controls are in place to manage risk effectively.
  • Build and manage a high-performing risk management team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
  • Provide thought leadership on risk-related matters, both internally and externally, to support business development and market positioning.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, actuarial science, risk management, or a related field. A master’s degree or relevant professional qualifications (CFA, FRM, etc.) is a plus.
  • Proven experience (10+ years) in risk management, particularly in the insurance industry, with a strong understanding of financial risk models and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence at the executive level.
  • Expertise in risk quantification techniques, financial analysis, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., Solvency II, IFRS 17).
  • Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions in complex environments.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in the auto insurance or general insurance sectors.
  • Proficiency in risk management software and financial modeling tools.
  • Track record of successful engagement with regulatory bodies and stakeholders.
